With decks cleared for upgradation of the Mysore airport, the Karnataka government plans to hold an 'Investors Meet' in Mysore during Dasara.

The industries department along with Karnataka Industrial Areas Development Board and Karnataka State Industrial Infrastructure Development Corporation are also drawing up a plan for road shows covering Chennai, Mumbai, Delhi and Kochi.

The two-day 'Investors Meet' will be held in Mysore on October 20 and 21 and is expected to attract investments in Mysore, Kodagu, Chamarajnagar and Mandya districts, said state industries minister P G R Sindhia here on Monday.

Some IT companies and a few industries from Coimbatore have already expressed their willingness to invest in Mysore, he added.

The minister said that parts of Mysore, Chamrajnagar and Kodagu are rich in natural resources and have plenty of scope for heritage, wildlife and eco-tourism. On the other hand the plains of Mandya and Mysore have potential for agro-based industries.

The commerce and industries ministry is also planning to implement D M Nanjundappa Committee report on Redressal of Regional Imbalances. The state government has released Rs 35 crore for reviving co-operatives in north Karnataka. In addition to state government's aid, central assistance is also targetted by raising Rs 25 crore from Nabard, he said.

"Before implementing the report, the affected districts' deputy commissioners have been asked to furnish details of industry infrastructure, raw material availability and manpower status," he added.
