IT shares gain; HCL Technologies up 3%

At 1302 hours, the CNX IT index was up 1.7% or 182 points at 10,980 compared with a 1.2% rise in the CNX Nifty at 8,460.

The shares of information technology (IT) companies have moved higher after leading European countries and Greece reportedly reached a deal that will allow the embattled Mediterranean nation to stay in the Eurozone. CLICK HERE TO READ FULL REPORT

HCL Technologies which generates 33% direct revenues from Europe was the largest gainer, up 3% at Rs 955 on the NSE. Tata Consultancy Services (TCS), Infosys, Wipro and MindTree are up 1-2% each.

At 1302 hours, the CNX IT index was up 1.7% or 182 points at 10,980 compared with a 1.2% rise in the CNX Nifty at 8,460.

The IT index had underperformed the markets in the past four trading sessions, declining by 3.7% against a 1.9% decline in the benchmark index till Friday's session.
