Jeera futures prices shed 0.85% to Rs 13,832 per quintal today, as speculators offloaded their positions due to sluggish spot demand.

Reports of increased sowing in Gujarat also kept pressure on the jeera futures prices.

At the National Commodity and Derivative Exchange, January jeera declined by Rs 118, or 0.85%, to Rs 13,832 per quintal, with an open interest of 17,841 lots.

The December delivery shed Rs 102, or 0.75%, to Rs 13,544 per quintal, with a trade volume of 6,801 lots.

Market analysts said sluggish demand in the spot market and reports of higher sowing in Gujarat also kept pressure on jeera futures prices.
