Jeera falls 1% on increased supplies

Offloading of positions by speculators on the back of sluggish demand in the spot market against increased supplies mainly led to fall in jeera futures prices

Jeera prices fell by Rs 142.50 to Rs 13,900 per quintal in futures trade today as speculators offloaded their positions following increased supplies in the physical market against sluggish demand.

At the NCDEX, the June contract fell by Rs 142.50, or 1.01%, to Rs 13,900 per quintal with an open interest of 18,213 lots.

The May contract lost Rs 130, or 0.95%, to Rs 13,525 per quintal in 7,809 lots.

Analysts said offloading of positions by speculators on the back of sluggish demand in the spot market against increased supplies mainly led to fall in jeera futures prices.
