Jeera prices declined by Rs 96 to Rs 15,100 per quintal in the futures trade today, as speculators booked profits, amid sluggish export demand.
At the National Commodity and Derivatives Exchange counter, jeera for delivery in March fell by Rs 96, or 0.63 per cent, to Rs 15,100 per quintal, with an open interest of 16,839 lots.
Similarly, the spice for delivery in February lost Rs 59, or 0.88 per cent, to Rs 14,706 per quintal, with a business turnover of 7,857 lots.
Market analysts said besides profit booking by speculators at the existing higher levels, amid sluggish export demand, also had a pressure on the jeera futures prices.
