Jeera prices declined by Rs 30 to Rs 16,130 per quintal in futures trading today on fresh selling by speculators, following increased supplies at spot market amid weak export demand.
At the National Commodity and Derivatives Exchange, jeera for delivery in May contract declined by Rs 30, or 0.19%, to Rs 16,130 per quintal, with an open interest of 11,841 lots.
Similarly, the spice for delivery in April lost Rs 27, or 0.17%, to Rs 15,770 per quintal, with a business volume of 15,876 lots.
Market analysts said increased supplies from producing region against weak export demand mainly led to decline in jeera futures prices.
