Jeera prices dropped by Rs 241 to Rs 16,480 per quintal in futures trade today due to increased arrivals of new crop in the physical market.

At the National Commodity and Derivatives Exchange, jeera for delivery in June shed Rs 241, or 1.44%, to Rs 16,480 per quintal, with an open interest of 5,844 lots.

Similarly, the spice for delivery in April fell by Rs 232, or 1.45%, to Rs 15,720 per quintal, with a business volume of 12,897 lots.

Analysts attributed the fall in jeera prices to increased arrivals from the new crop in the physical market.
