Jeera prices fell by Rs 49 to Rs 15,376 per quintal in futures trade today as speculators reduced their position due to sluggish demand.

Fresh arrivals from producing region in the physical market also put pressure on the jeera futures prices.

At the National Commodity and Derivatives Exchange, jeera for delivery in June fell by Rs 49, or 0.32% to Rs 15,376 per quintal, with an open interest of 19,260 lots.

Similarly, the spice for delivery in May declined by Rs 30, or 0.20% to Rs 14,800 per quintal, with an open interest of 17,328 lots.

Analysts said off-loading of positions by speculators on sluggish demand mainly led to decline in jeera prices at futures trade.
