Jeera prices fell by Rs 78, or 0.60 per cent, to Rs 12,864 per quintal in futures trade today owing to slack demand against adequate stocks.

At the National Commodity and Derivatives Exchange counter, jeera for July-month fell by Rs 78, or 0.60 per cent, to Rs 12,864 per quintal, with an open interest of 7,878 lots.

Similarly, the spice for delivery in August declined by Rs 73, or 0.56 per cent, to Rs 13,050 per quintal, with an open interest of 11,199 lots.

Market analysts attributed the decline in jeera futures prices to subdued demand at the spot markets against adequate stocks position.
