Jeera futures prices traded lower by Rs 62 to Rs 14,868 per quintal today, as speculators reduced their positions due to weak local and export demand.

Analysts said hopes of better sowing in the upcoming rabi season also influenced the trading sentiment.

At the National Commodity and Derivatives Exchange, September jeera shed Rs 62, or 0.42%, to Rs 14,868 per quintal, with an open interest of 5,325 lots.

The October contract traded lower by Rs 60, or 0.39%, to Rs 15,368 per quintal, with a business turnover of 21,078 lots.

Analysts said weak local as well as export demand, mainly led to the decline in jeera futures prices.
