Jeera futures fall 1.28% on weak exports demand

Jeera futures prices fell by Rs 172 to Rs 13,280 per quintal today, as speculators offloaded their positions on the back of a weak exports demand.

Rising sowing activity in Gujarat, the major producing state, also influenced jeera prices at futures trade.

At the National Commodity and Derivatives Exchange, jeera for December fell by Rs 172, or 1.28%, to Rs 13,280 per quintal, with an open interest of 11,766 lots.

Similarly, the spice for delivery in January lost Rs 172, or 1.25%, to Rs 13,563 per quintal, with a trade volume of 14,172 lots.

Analysts said speculators offloaded their positions on the back of weak exports demand mainly pulled down jeera prices at futures market.
