Jeera futures prices fell by Rs 187 to Rs 12,971 per quintal today, as speculators booked profits at existing higher levels.

Weak export demand, hopes of a rise in acreage also influenced the trading sentiment.

At the National Commodity and Derivatives Exchange counter, jeera for November month fell by Rs 187, or 1.42 per cent, to Rs 12,971 per quintal, with an open interest of 12,015 lots.

Similarly, the spice for delivery in December declined by Rs 173, or 1.29 per cent, to Rs 13,194 per quintal in 12,477 lots.

Analysts said profit booking by speculators after gains in the previous session, mainly led to a fall in jeera futures prices.
