Jeera futures prices fell by Rs 55, to Rs 15,009 per quintal today, as speculators booked profits, amid fall in demand in the spot market.
However, a squeeze in supplies and lower stocks, limited the losses.
At the National Commodity and Derivatives Exchange counter, jeera for delivery in March fell by Rs 55, or 0.37 per cent, to Rs 15,009 per quintal, with an open interest of 2,730 lots.
Similarly, the spice for delivery in January declined by Rs 34, or 0.23 per cent, to Rs 14,481 per quintal, clocking a business turnover of 10,428 lots.
Market analysts said profit booking by speculators at prevailing higher levels and fall in demand in the spot market pulled down jeera futures prices but squeeze in supplies and lower stocks, restricted losses.
