Jeera prices fell by Rs 87 or 0.71 per cent to Rs 12,098 per quintal in futures market today as speculators booked profits amid higher output estimates.
At the National Commodity and Derivatives Exchange, jeera for August-month contract fell by Rs 87, or 0.71 per cent to Rs 12,098 per quintal, with an open interest of 10,854 lots.
Similarly, the spice for delivery in July contract declined by Rs 38, or 0.32 per cent to Rs 11,865 per quintal, with a business volume of 11,610 lots, while delivery in current-month June contract held steady at Rs 11,773 per quintal, with a business turnover of 2,547 lots.
Market analysts said besides, profit taking by traders, estimates of higher output mainly led to a fall in jeera prices at futures trade.
