Jeera futures prices fell by Rs 153 to Rs 15,458 per quintal today, as speculators booked profits at existing higher levels, amid fall in demand in the spot market.

At the National Commodity and Derivatives Exchange counter, jeera for January delivery fell by Rs 153, or 0.98 per cent to Rs 15,458 per quintal, with an open interest of 12,282 lots.

Similarly, the spice for delivery in December declined by Rs 96, or 0.63 per cent to Rs 15,140 per quintal, clocking a trade volume of 11,214 lots.

Analysts said profit-bookings by speculators at prevailing higher levels and fall in demand in the spot market mainly pulled down jeera futures prices.
