Jeera prices dropped by Rs 369 to Rs 15,571 per quintal in futures trading today on profit-taking by speculators as demand declined in the spot market.

On the National Commodity and Derivatives Exchange platform, jeera for delivery in far-month September dropped by Rs 369 or 2.31 per cent to Rs 15,571 per quintal, with an open interest of 13,929 lots.

Similarly, the spice for delivery in August month plunged by Rs 172 or 1.10 per cent to Rs 15,482 per quintal in 11,973 lots.

Analysts said that apart from profit-taking by speculators, fall in demand at existing higher levels led to a decline in jeera prices at futures trade.
