Amid profit booking by speculators, jeera prices fell by Rs 70 to Rs 13,908 per quintal in futures trading today.

Weak trend at spot market due to sluggish demand also put pressure on the jeera futures here.

At the National Commodity and Derivatives Exchange counter, jeera prices fell by Rs 70, or 0.50 per cent, to Rs 13,908 per quintal, with an open interest of 2,193 lots.

Similarly, the spice for delivery in September declined by Rs 36, or 0.27 per cent, to Rs 13,495 per quintal, with an open interest of 12,027 lots.

Analysts said profit-taking by speculators due to subdued demand in the spot market mainly led to a decline in jeera prices at futures trade.
