Buoyed by pick up in spot demand, jeera prices rose by Rs 68, or 0.46 per cent, to Rs 14,718 per quintal in futures trade today.

Restricted arrivals from producing regions also influenced the jeera prices at futures trade.

At the National Commodity and Derivatives Exchange, jeera for October-month gained Rs 68, or 0.46 per cent, to Rs 14,718 per quintal with an open interest of 6,072 lots.

Similarly, the spice for delivery in August-month traded higher by Rs 52, or 0.37 per cent, to Rs 14,171 per quintal in 7,677 lots.

Analysts said speculators enlarging their positions on pick up in demand in the spot market against tight supply mainly led to rise in jeera prices at futures market here.
