Jeera prices recovered by 1.60 per cent in futures trade today, on low-level buying, however poor export demand capped the gains.

At the National Commodity and Derivatives Exchange, jeera for delivery in April shot up by Rs 262, or 1.60 per cent, to Rs 16,618 per quintal, with an open interest of 12,051 lots.

Similarly, the spice for delivery in February gained Rs 216, or 1.38 per cent, to Rs 15,870 per quintal, with a business volume of 3,075 lots.

Market analysts said bargain buying by speculators helped jeera futures to trade higher but poor export demand, limited the gains.
