Jeera futures prices rose by Rs 136 to Rs 17,050 per quintal today as speculators enlarged positions, driven by better trend at spot market.

At the National Commodity and Derivatives Exchange, jeera for May contract rose by Rs 136, or 0.80%, to Rs 17,050 per quintal, with an open interest of 6,372 lots.

Similarly, the spice for delivery in March moved up by Rs 107, or 0.67%, to Rs 16,151 per quintal, with an open interest of 7,805 lots.

Market analysts said pick up in demand in the spot due to ongoing marriage season amid restricted arrivals mainly pushed up jeera futures prices.
