Jeera futures prices traded higher by Rs 119 to Rs 14,281 per quintal today, as speculators created fresh positions, driven by a firm trend at spot market on pick up in demand.
Less arrivals in the physical market also influenced the trading sentiment.
At the National Commodity and Derivatives Exchange counter, jeera for February contract rose by Rs 119, or 0.84 per cent to Rs 14,281 per quintal, with an open interest of 54 lots.
Similarly, the spice for delivery in November contract gained Rs 32, or 0.24 per cent to Rs 13,490 per quintal, with a business turnover of 6,528 lots.
Analysts said fresh positions created by speculators on pick up in demand in the spot market led to rise in jeera futures prices.
