Jeera prices rose by Rs 51 to Rs 16,975 a quintal in futures trading today as speculators enlarged their positions on pick-up in spot demand.
Estimates of lower output also influenced the trading sentiment.
At the National Commodity and Derivatives Exchange, jeera for delivery in June rose by Rs 51, or 0.30%, to Rs 16,975 per quintal, with an open interest of 4,479 lots.
April jeera gained Rs 25, or 0.15%, to Rs 16,210, with a business turnover of 13,587 lots.
Market analysts said rising demand in the spot market and estimates of low output mainly led to rise in jeera futures prices.
