Jeera futures prices gained Rs 57, or 0.44 per cent, to Rs 12,940 per quintal today, as speculators enlarged their positions, driven by pick up in demand in the spot market.
Restricted arrivals in the physical market also influenced the trading sentiment.
At the National Commodity and Derivatives Exchange counter, jeera for delivery in October gained Rs 57, or 0.44 per cent to Rs 12,940 per quintal, with an open interest of 4,866 lots.
Similarly, the spice for delivery in December traded higher by Rs 46, or 0.35 per cent, to Rs 13,300 per quintal, with a business turnover of 8,898 lots.
Analysts said firming trend at spot markets on rising demand led to a rise in jeera futures prices.
