Jeera prices moved up by Rs 98, or 0.77 per cent, to Rs 12,850 per quintal in futures market today on sustained buying by traders driven by robust demand.

Restricted arrivals in the physical market, as farmers were holding back stocks, awaiting a rebound in prices further fuelled the uptrend.

At the National Commodity and Derivative Exchange, jeera for August delivery rose Rs 98, or 0.77 per cent, to Rs 12,850 per quintal, with an open interest of 3,645 lots.

The spice for delivery in June contract also traded higher by Rs 55, or 0.45 per cent, to Rs 12,211 per quintal, with a business turnover of 12,993 lots.

Experts said sustained buying by traders against restricted arrivals at spot markets pushed up jeera prices in futures trade.
