Jeera prices shed 0.62% to Rs 16,303 per quintal in futures trade today largely on higher sowing in key producing regions.

At the National Commodity and Derivatives Exchange, January jeeera declined by Rs 101, or 0.62% to Rs 16,303 per quintal with an open interest of 7,227 lots.

The February contract lost Rs 102, or 0.61% to Rs 16,750 per quintal in 15,414 lots.

Analysts said trimming of positions by speculations following reports of higher sowing in Gujarat, the major producing state, mainly kept pressure on jeera prices at futures trade.
