Jeera prices rose by Rs 125, or 0.98 per cent, to Rs 12,872 per quintal in futures market today, supported by increased demand, against thin arrivals in the physical market.

At the National Commodity and Derivative Exchange, jeera for delivery in September contract shot up by Rs 125, or 0.98 per cent, to Rs 12,872 per quintal, with an open interest of 3,900 lots.

Similarly, the spice for delivery in July contract rose by Rs 97, or 0.79 per cent, to Rs 12,388 per quintal, with an open interest of 9,294 lots.

Analysts said rising demand against less arrivals from the producing regions helped jeera prices to strengthen at futures trade.
