Jeera futures prices moved up by Rs 40, to Rs 13,371 per quintal today, as speculators and traders enlarged their positions, supported by pick up in demand amid tight supplies at the spot markets.

At the National Commodity and Derivatives Exchange counter, jeera for delivery in December rose by Rs 40, or 0.30 per cent, to Rs 13,371 per quintal, with an open interest of 11,961 lots.

Similarly, the spice for delivery in November gained Rs 33, or 0.25 per cent, to Rs 13,189 per quintal, with an open interest of 12,510 lots.

Analysts said firm spot demand, driven by ongoing festive and marriage season, mainly influenced jeera futures prices.
