Jeera prices rose by 0.66% to Rs 16,620 per quintal in futures trade today on pick-up in export demand against tight supplies.
At the National Commodity and Derivatives Exchange, jeera for delivery in January rose by Rs 109, or 0.66%, to Rs 16,620 per quintal, with an open interest of 9,705 lots.
The February contract gained Rs 97, or 0.57%, to Rs 17,000 per quintal, with an open interest of 13,626 lots.
Analysts said besides pick-up in export demand, restricted arrivals from producing regions mainly pushed up jeera prices at futures trade.
