Supported by pick-up in spot markets demand, jeera prices rose by Rs 69 to Rs 13,945 per quintal in futures trade today.

At the National Commodity and Derivatives Exchange, jeera for delivery in June edged up by Rs 69, or 0.50%, to Rs 13,945 per quintal, with an open interest of 8,883 lots.

The July contract gained Rs 63, or 0.44%, to Rs 14,335 per quintal, with a business turnover of 20,655 lots.

Analysts said rising demand at the spot markets amid a fall in supplies, mainly helped jeera prices to trade higher at futures trade.

However, weak export demand capped the gains, they added.
