Jeera prices rose Rs 43 or 0.34 per cent to Rs 12,537 per quintal in futures trade today on low level buying, supported by good demand in the spot market.

Restricted arrivals in the physical market also fuelled the uptrend.

At the National Commodity and Derivative Exchange, jeera for September contract rose Rs 43, or 0.34 per cent to Rs 12,537 per quintal, with an open interest of 927 lots.

The spice for delivery in June contract also gained Rs 33 or 0.28 per cent to Rs 11,815 per quintal, with a business volume of 4,935 lots.

Experts said low level buying by traders in anticipation of pick up in demand in spot markets, helped jeera prices to trade higher at futures trade.
