Jeera prices moved up by Rs 77 to Rs 14,990 per quintal in futures trade today as speculators enlarged their position, driven by pick-up in spot market demand.

At the National Commodity and Derivatives Exchange, jeera for delivery in June rose by Rs 77, or 0.52% to Rs 14,990 per quintal, with an open interest of 22,389 lots.

Similarly, the spice for delivery in May gained Rs 30, or 0.21% to Rs 14,270 per quintal, with a business volume of 6,954 lots.

Analysts said fresh buying by speculators due to pick-up in spot market demand mainly led to the rise in jeera prices at futures trade.
