Press Trust of India New Delhi

Jeera prices rose by Rs 118 to Rs 14,222 per quintal in futures trade today, mostly supported by spot demand.

However, weak export demand restricted the gain.

At the National Commodity and Derivatives Exchange, jeera for delivery in July rose by Rs 118, or 0.84%, to Rs 14,222 per quintal, with an open interest of 6,108 lots.

The August contract gained Rs 96, or 0.66%, to Rs 14,662 per quintal, with an open interest of 19,515 lots.

Analysts said pick-up in spot market demand against restricted arrivals mainly led to the rise in jeera prices at futures trade.
