Jeera prices rose by Rs 249 to Rs 15,600 per quintal in futures trade today on pick-up in spot market demand, supported by some export enquiries.

At the National Commodity and Derivatives Exchange, jeera for delivery in July rose by Rs 249, or 1.62%, to Rs 15,600 per quintal, with an open interest of 2,025 lots.

The August contract gained Rs 186, or 1.17%, to Rs 16,099 per quintal, with a trading volume of 19,821 lots.

Analysts said pick-up in demand in the spot markets along with some export enquiries mainly pushed up jeera futures prices.
