Jeera prices rose by Rs 51 to Rs 15,440 per quintal in futures trade today as speculators created fresh positions, driven by a pick-up in spot market demand.

At the National Commodity and Derivatives Exchange, September jeera rose by Rs 51, or 0.33% to Rs 15,440 per quintal with an open interest of 11,976 lots.

The October contract edged up by Rs 49, or 0.31% to Rs 15,900 per quintal in 19,101 lots.

Analysts said fresh buying by speculators on the back of a pick-up in spot demand mainly led to the rise in jeera futures prices.
