Jeera prices traded higher by Rs 70 to Rs 13,910 per quintal in futures trading today as speculators created fresh positions, driven by pick up in demand in the spot market against restricted arrivals.

At the National Commodity and Derivatives Exchange, jeera for delivery in September month traded higher by Rs 70, or 0.51%, to Rs 13,910 per quintal, with an open interest of 414 lots.

October jeera edged up by Rs 65, or 0.47%, to Rs 13,970 per quintal in 18,732 lots.

Market experts said fresh buying by speculators following pick up in spot demand amid lower arrivals from producing regions, helped jeera prices to trade higher at futures market.
