Jeera prices rose by Rs 76, or 0.52 per cent, to Rs 14,580 per quintal in futures trade today, as traders engaged in building up positions, supported by pick up in spot markets.

At the National Commodity and Derivatives Exchange platform, jeera for delivery in September rose Rs 76, or 0.52 per cent, to Rs 14,580 per quintal, with an open interest of 15,996 lots.

Similarly, the spice for delivery in August gained Rs 54, or 0.38 per cent, to Rs 14,180 per quintal, with an open interest of 3,909 lots.

Analysts attributed the rise in jeera futures prices to pick up in demand in the spot market, against restricted arrivals.
