Jeera prices gained Rs 255 to Rs 15,000 per quintal in futures trade today as speculators created fresh positions, driven by a pick up in spot demand.
Reduced domestic supplies in the physical markets and some export enquiries supported the prices.
At the National Commodity and Derivatives Exchange, jeera for delivery in December was up by Rs 255, or 1.73%, to Rs 15,000 per quintal, with an open interest of 17,751 lots.
November jeera gained Rs 227.50, or 1.61%, to Rs 14,400 per quintal, with a trade volume of 4,845 lots.
Market analysts said fresh buying by traders on the back of a pick up in demand in the spot market pushed up jeera prices in futures trade.
