Jeera prices up on buying support

Jeera prices rose by Rs 200 per quintal in the national capital today on fresh buying support from retailers and stockists amid low stocks position.

Encouraging advices from growing regions also supported the rise in prices. Jeera common and jeera best quality rose by Rs 200 to Rs 12,200-12,500 and Rs 13,600-14,200 per quintal, respectively.

Traders said fresh buying by stockists and rising domestic demand mainly pushed up jeera prices at the wholesale market here.

Following are today's quotations (per quintal):

Ajwain 10,000-15,000, black pepper common 16,400-16,500, betelnut (kg) 85-105, cardamom brown -Jhundiwali (kg) 570-575 and cardamom brown -Kanchicut (kg) 615-660.

Cardamom small (kg): Chitridar 1010-1,100, cardamom (colour robin) 1,125-1,140, cardamom bold 1,145-1,160, cardamom extra (bold) 1,215-1,240 and cloves (kg) 265-315.
