Jeera prices fell by Rs 226 to Rs 15,202 per 100 kgs in futures trade today, as speculators engaged in booking profits amid subdued demand in spot market.

At the National Commodity and Derivatives Exchange, jeera for September contract fell by Rs 226 or 1.46 per cent to Rs 15,202 per 100 kgs, with an open interest of 14,688 lots.

The spice for delivery in October month traded lower by Rs 214 or 1.37 per cent to Rs 15,400 per quintal, with an open interest of 14,688 lots, while August month contract eased by Rs 205 or 1.35 per cent to Rs 14,966 per quintal in 11,175 lots.

Trade analysts said continued profit booking by speculators at prevailing higher levels led to the fall in jeera prices in futures market.
