Jeera sheds 1.2% on higher output hopes

Jeera futures prices fell by Rs 172.50 to Rs 13.940 per quintal in futures trading today as speculators reduced their positions, triggered by hopes of higher output.

At the National Commodity and Derivatives Exchange, jeera for delivery in March month fell by Rs 172.50, or 1.22%, to Rs 13,940 per quintal, with an open interest of 9,807 lots.

The April contract lost Rs 170, or 1.18%, to Rs 14,202.50 per quintal in 11,688 lots.

Analysts said speculators reduced their positions on the back of higher output hopes mainly pulled down jeera prices at futures market.
