Jeera up 1.3% on export demand

New season crop and hopes of higher output capped the gains

Jeera futures for March rose Rs 172.50, or 1.34%, to Rs 13,040 per quintal in 1,040 lots.     

At the National Commodity and Derivatives Exchange (NCDEX), the April contract traded higher by Rs 82.50, or 0.63%, to Rs 13,125 per quintal in 12,357 lots.     

Prices went up as speculators enlarged their positions driven by improvement in export demand.
