Jeera up 1.7% on strong demand

Spice for delivery in May traded higher by 1.67%

Supported by strong demand in the spot markets, jeera prices surged 1.79% to Rs 10,810 per quintal in futures trading today as speculators enlarged positions.

At the National Commodity and Derivatives Exchange, jeera for delivery in June shot up by Rs 190, or 1.79% to Rs 10,810 per quintal with an open interest of 4,287 lots.

Similarly, the spice for delivery in May traded higher by Rs 175, or 1.67% to Rs 10,670 per quintal in 8,619 lots.

Analysts said strong demand in the spot markets mainly attributed gains in jeera prices at futures trade.
