Jeera prices rose in the futures market today, gaining Rs 27.50 to Rs 13,935 per quintal, driven by pick-up in spot demand.
However, higher supplies due to fresh harvests from producing areas and estimates of higher output limited the gains.
At the National Commodity and Derivatives Exchange, jeera for delivery in March rose by Rs 27.50, or 0.20%, to Rs 13,935 per quintal, with an open interest of 9,654 lots.
April jeera moved up by Rs 27.50, or 0.19%, to Rs 14,195 per quintal in 11,781 lots.
Analysts said a rise in demand in the spot market mainly helped jeera prices to trade marginally higher in the futures market.
