The company reported a 22 per cent growth in crude steel production and 18 per cent rise in rolled long products segment in the first quarter ended June 2008 over the corresponding period in the previous year.
The output of crude steel increased to 9.76 lakh tonnes and rolled long products rose to 0.92 lakh tons. The production of HR coils, however, declined by 12 per cent to 5.92 lakh tonnes as the hot strip mill was shut down for 17 days to carry out modernisation work.
