June futures decline

Equity derivatives continued slipping after two days of straight gains on disappointment over finance minister's statements. Nifty June futures fell to close at 1,460.95, down from yesterday's close of 1,527 points.
 
However, it continued to be at a sharp discount to the spot S&P CNX Nifty that closed at 1,495.10, down a hefty 2.61 per cent.
 
Foreign institutional investors (FIIs) were net sellers to the tune of Rs 85 crore in the equity derivatives market on Tuesday.
 
FIIs open interest position increased to Rs 2,818.10 crore from Wednesday's Rs 2714.19 crore across all index and individual stock futures and options.
 
FIIs bought index futures worth Rs 27.72 crore and stock futures worth Rs 9.65 crore. They sold index futures worth Rs 82.19 crore and stock futures worth Rs 40.18 crore.
 
Maruti was the most active future contracts on individual securities traded today with 16,921 contracts traded and SBI was the next most active futures contracts with 16,325 contracts being traded. Tisco June futures at Rs 284.95 closed at a sharp discount to the last traded price in the cash market of Rs 295.00.
 
All the stock futures on 51 underlying securities got traded. The total number of contracts traded was 1,54,797 with a traded value of Rs 3,879.02 crore.
 
The top ten contracts contributed to around 66 per cent of the total traded volume in futures on individual securities.
 
Index futures saw a trading volume of Rs 3,971.07 crore arising out of 1,32,472 contracts and index options saw 14,824 contracts getting traded at a notional value of Rs 463.68 crore. The total turnover of the futures & options segment of the exchange was around Rs 8,661.64 crore.
 
Out of 51 securities, options on 44 underlying securities got traded. The total number of contracts traded was 12,531 with a notional value of Rs 347.86 crore.
 
The top twenty contracts contributed to around 42 per cent of the total traded volume in options on individual securities. Tisco was the most active option contracts on individual securities traded today with 1,901 contracts and Satyam Computer was the next most active options contracts with 1,490 contracts being traded.
