June futures move up

Equity derivatives gained on bottom fishing. Nifty June futures rose to close at 1,503.50, up from yesterday's close of 1,460.95 points. However, it continued to be at a sharp discount to the spot S&P CNX Nifty that closed at 1,521.10, down 1.74 per cent.
 
Foreign institutional investors (FIIs) were net buyers to the tune of Rs 119.92 crore on the equity derivatives market on Thursday.
 
FIIs open interest position marginally increased to Rs 2,827.69 crore from Thursday's Rs 2,818.10 crore across all index and individual stock futures and options.
 
FIIs bought index futures worth Rs 121.55 crore and stock futures worth Rs 142.59 crore. They sold index futures worth Rs 95.75 crore and stock futures worth Rs 48.46 crore.
 
Tisco was the most active futures contract on individual securities traded today with 15,738 contracts and Maruti was the next most active futures contracts with 14,016 contracts being traded.
 
Tisco June futures though saw sharp gains during the day and closed higher at Rs 305.45 from yesterday's Rs 284.95, it continued to be at a sharp discount to the last traded price in the cash market of Rs 315.50.
 
All the stock futures on 51 underlying securities got traded. The total number of contracts traded was 1,32,426 with a traded value of Rs 3,341.51 crore. The top ten contracts contributed to around 71 per cent of the total traded volume in futures on individual securities.
 
Index futures saw a trading volume of Rs 3,452.63 crore arising out of 1,16,603 contracts and index options saw 11,832 contracts getting traded at a notional value of Rs 365.83 crore.
 
The total turnover of the futures & options segment of the exchange was around Rs 7,516.13 crore. Out of 51 securities, options on 45 underlying securities got traded.
 
The total number of contracts traded was 12,283 with a notional value of Rs 356.15 crore.
 
The top twenty contracts contributed to around 53 per cent of the total traded volume in options on individual securities. Satyam Computer was the most active option contract on individual securities traded today with 2,788 contracts and Tisco was the next most active options contracts with 2,613 contracts being traded.
