There is tough competition in the Rs 450 crore photofilm market. Kodak which has launched a film at the top end of the market is wasting no time in going directly to customers. Armed with a comprehensive database, it has been organising workshops for some of the countrys photographers. Very often, the workshop is conducted by a well known name in the business. For instance, a recent day-long session in Mumbai had I Qureshi, one of Indias top photographers, training some professional photographers who had flown into the country. With activities such as these, Kodak executives claim that market share is bound to go up. Kodak claims a 45 per cent share in the amateur role market while it leads in photofilms.
