Larsen and Toubro (L&T) has moved higher by 1% to Rs 1,284 after the company said the buildings and factories business of L&T Construction has won new housing orders worth Rs 1,981 crore in March 2014.
The stock opened at Rs 1,270 and hits a fresh 52-week high of Rs 1,285 on the BSE. A combined 1.08 million shares changed hands on the counter till noon deals on the BSE and NSE.
L&T said, a major residential order has been bagged in Bangalore from one of south India's leading property developers which is also the company's biggest residential order in this financial year.
The scope of work involves civil, structural, MEP and finishing for 24 towers and 271 villas. The towers will comprise of two basements plus ground floor with levels varying from 18 floors to 29 floors. The project is scheduled to complete in 42 months, it added.
Meanwhile, the engineering major has received total orders amounting of Rs 15,341 crore in past one month.
Since February 28, the stock has outperformed the market by surging 16% from Rs 1,108, compared to 5% gain in benchmark index.
