L&T jumps on winning new orders

Since February 28, the engineering major has received total orders amounting of Rs 16,350 crore.

Larsen and Toubro (L&T) is trading higher by 1% to Rs 1,298 after the company said L&T Construction has won new orders worth Rs 1,009 crore across various business segments in March 2014.

In the buildings & factories business new design & build orders worth Rs 573 crore have been received, , L&T said in a regulatory filing.

The transportation infrastructure business has won a new order worth Rs 316 crore from a road developer for design, engineering and construction of an elevated road between Jinzira Bazaar and Batanagar on the Budge Budge trunk road in Kolkata.

The power transmission a distribution business has bagged an order worth Rs 120 crore from Odisha Power Transmission Corporation for engineering, supply, erection and commissioning of 33/11 kilovolt (kV) sub-stations and associated lines for the Odisha Distribution System Strengthening Project, it added.

Meanwhile, since February 28, the engineering major has received total orders amounting of Rs 16,350 crore, according to data available on the stock exchanges.

The stock opened at Rs 1,290 and hit a fresh 52-week high of Rs 1,302 on the NSE. A combined 687,000 shares changed hands on the counter so far on the NSE and BSE.
