La Opala RG has rallied 5% to Rs 670, also its record high on the BSE, after the company reported a healthy 46% year-on-year (yoy) growth in net profit at Rs 20.22 crore for the quarter ended December 31, 2015 (Q3FY16) on back of strong sales.
The company engaged in glass & glassware business had profit of Rs 13.89 crore in the same quarter year ago.
Net sales of the company during the quarter grew by 29% at Rs 80 crore against Rs 62 crore in the corresponding quarter of previous fiscal. Operating profit margin improved by nearly 300 basis points to 36% from 33.4% in the year ago quarter.
The stock had outperformed the market by giving more than 30% return in past straight seven calendar years (CY). It appreciated an over 100% each in CY12 (180%), CY13 (123%) & CY14 (278%). In previous CY15 it gained 41% as compared to 5% decline in S&P BSE Sensex.
Thus far in CY16, the stock up 5% against nearly 7% decline in the benchmark index.
At 10:49 AM, the stock was up 2.2% at Rs 653 on the BSE. A combined 94,603 shares changed hands on the counter on the BSE and NSE so far.
